David’s greatest joy was being at home in his beloved cabin in Brimson. Surrounded by the tranquility of northern Minnesota, he embraced the lifestyle he had long dreamed of. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, offering both adventure and peaceful moments in nature. For David, the outdoors was more than a hobby—it was a place of comfort, reflection, and fulfillment.

He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Richardson Wilson of Lake City; his grandchildren, Alicia (Jake) Grant of Wanamingo and Nicole Gilsdorf of Red Wing; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. He is also survived by his significant other, Joyce Scholer, whose companionship brought happiness and support to his life, as well as close friends Tim and Annette Swegle and Tim and Michelle Swift, who shared many memorable moments with him over the years.
David was preceded in death by his son, Keith, a loss that remained deeply felt throughout his life. Though reunited in memory, the love he carried for his family never wavered and continues to be reflected in the generations he leaves behind.
